caging question

I just got a cage for free and wanted to know if it would work for rats or are the bars to wide. if it will work how many can i put in it.

here is the dementions of the cage.

4-Story Ferret Home with 3/4" wire spacing, includes 3 platforms, 3 ramps and 2 large front doors. Bottom unlatches for easy clean removable base and grille floor. Approximate dimensions are: 24"L x 17 1/2"W x 36"H

You should likely have no problem putting adult rats in that type of enclosure with that spacing. I wouldn't allow breeding/birthing to go on in there as the baby rats could squeeze out but for a group of adults rats it would be fine.

Ditto that. If they can get their head through, trust me, they can get the rest of themselves through LOL. I used something akin to that for my adults and they love it.

I would suggest females, males like to mark and pee on the shelves, and you pretty much have to wipe them down daily.
