Gas prices??? What are we to do??

I read many articles on gas prices, every day.

Some say it could reach $7 a gallon here in the U.S. in 4 years. I say yeah, 4 years? Try by Labor day!! Seriously

This has gotten so out of control.
I know living in North Idaho we are kind of, and I stress kind of, cushioned from some of the really high prices. Like in California So to everyone in Cali, I feel so sorry for you guys.

We also pay a medium gas tax here.

However, with a Ford 250 diesel, we are now paying more for gas every month than the truck payment.
We are downsizing, but have to have a truck. We drive as little as possible.
What I find sad, is that people keep wondering when prices will go back to what they were. That isn't going to happen, they may stabilize but they will never be what they once were.

What is everyone here doing to save money on gas??

Re: Gas prices??? What are we to do??

i sold my beloved toyota 4x4 and bought a corolla... my insurance is half as much and i get 40mpg. BUT, i really miss my truck. no we got rid of my wife's SUV and we carpool with the one car. now the money we pay of insurance is 30% of what it once was and gas is about 40% of what it was.
i'm not the paranoid type but this whole gas thing is definitely a world-wide elitist conspriacy.

Yeah we only have one car too. It makes it easier.

We are going to get a smaller truck. Has to be able to pull the work trailer though.

We just will combine trips for errands, and shop much closer to home.

As for the motorcycle, great idea but with two kids car seats just don't fit on them lol

Plus we have like maybe 3 whole months out of the year hear where it isn't freezing cold, raining or snowing. In fact it snowed two days ago

I predict that you will see a lot of Honda Civics and Toyota Corollas and other cars of that type in the near future.

Re: Gas prices??? What are we to do??

Any way you look at it most of the world is paying more for gas than we are here in the US. Think of it this way, right now you would pay more for a gallon of bottled water than you would for gas if you buy the normal sized water bottles. I mean seriously, paying more for something that falls out of the sky than gas? I think what people need to realize is that driving isn't a right, it is a priviledge. If you can drive then good for you, but if you can't then I'm sorry. I know it sucks but I don't feel that it is somebody elses job to make sure you get to drive.
