Tub at a normal hardware store?
This has been asked a million times i'm sure, but I can just pick up a tub with a top on it at walmart or something, and use that to house my ball python right?
I want to get a spider, but don't want to spend a ton of money on the setup like I did on Vincent. Also, I don't have a rack, but it should be ok on my bedstand if I get enough room for the UTH heat to escape right?

I just bought a few 32qt sterilite tubs from Target for $4.99 on sale I am stocking up for a rack project I hope to start soon. Make sure you don't get one that's too big for your snake, though.
From what I understand, sterilites, rubbermaids and that type of thing are fine. Cheap to replace once your snake is bigger too!

Yeah, I don't have a rack, so I guess i'll need to get something with a lid.
I plan on going cheap on this snake, as I spent a ton of money getting my normal setup. And by cheap I mean, paper towl substrate, 2 hides and a water bowl. I'll need a thermostat though, just not sure if I wanna spend $115 on a herpstat again.

They come with lids! If you're worried about them not staying on properly, pick up a bungee cable from the car section to help it stay on. I happened to already have a ton of these from tying down kayaks on my car so I am just going to use the smallest one I have (12" I think) for my quarantine tub.
