    new tank, take two

after taking some peoples suggestions, this is how my tank looks now.

    warm side hide

    cool side hide

Lennie is still exploring the new setup, but i think it is better than what he had. i think the only issue that i see now is that the cool side hide may be slightly too small, but we shall see. please, feel free to give some input!

note: I realize the temps shown on the thermometer are low, however the tank's temp has equalized again, and is back up to about 85

Niiice!! My only comment would be to ask whether velcro to attach the acurite might not be a better idea than putting tape on the inside of the tank. Tape + snakes = Danger Danger Danger !!!!!!

    Hi,

It's because the corners tend to lift and the snake then gets stuck on it and can rip its skin trying to get free.

Here is a link to a post I compiled previously that linked to a lot of tape problem threads.

No, it's because they could get stuck to the tape and then it is really bad!!!! If you do the search feature for tape- wow- some people have had enough bad experiences that I would be very reluctant to take chances....

    Re: new tank, take two

i had a problem securing something a bit bigger than that in a breeder tank, water bottle or somethin? i forget but i used suction cups. there was a thing that when u bought an AXE shower gel u would get a pad that had like...15 small suction cups on them, i cut about 4 of then and since they were double sided it worked great, the mice jumped up on the water bottle and dangled off it and it did not fall. also very easy clean up.

well, its a good thing you guys enlightened me to this, cus thats some pretty hardcore duck tape i'm using. i can definantly see where that would lead to problems.

anyway, now that Lennie has had some time to adjust, he is using the newly modified log hides and looks pretty comfortable.

    Re: new tank, take two

just added a bunch of spagnum moss to the tank, mostly in and arround the hides. Lennie seems to love it and is actually using his cool side hide now, although he has discovered that he is too big for it and moved it away from the side of the tank. seems to like it that way tho, so it looks like i'm going to have to find some other material to cover the gap. oh well, as long as he feels more secure, i'll do what i can. now, if only i could get him to eat....
