Question Hairless rat or "super" rex?

    Hey everyone!

Got a new rat, but I'm curious. I'm aware that the "super" (ain't I silly, been around ball pythons too long!) form of the rex rat can result in a nearly hairless rat, as opposed to the TRUE hairless.

Well I got this little guy, and remembering my last hairless some looong years back, he's got a bit more fuzz and color than I remember.

So what do you think? Hairless, or a super form of rex?

Only pic I could get, he's a squiggly little guy.

He looks like a regular hairless. The best way to confirm would be to breed him out and "prove him". If you get a bunch of straight haired weaners, then he is a hairless (since it is recessive). If you get a bunch of curly haired pups, then he is a rex.

There are a few different genes that cause hairless rats, causing more or less hair on the body, but I'm going to bet he is a hairless rat. Most double rexes are patchy.

I would say that its a super rex, just a rather hairless version of one....All the true hairless have no fur on their faces....I just fed one off yestarday, I should have taken a pic before...lol
