I know that most people will recommend only feeding mice or rats. I don't know if it's harmful or if your snake will imprint fish as its only food source, but it will cause soft and smelly poop. If it does imprint you might be stuck feeding it pond koi, so I would stick to rodents. I'm surprised it ate it, and if you want a snake that you can feed goldfish I'd suggest a garter snake.
What are these mojavas I keep hearing so much about?

Neither are domestic rats and field mice that we feed them. Probably not going to hurt it but why feed it goldfish, I didnt think there was much nutrional value, and they taste bad(dont ask why I know that, lol)
Stick to rats and mice, Im sure your friends BP would rather eat them
In the end, we will all die alone

    Re: BP eat gold fish?

I'm kinda thinking it's a line too... I can't see a BP eating a fish. I doubt a BP would know what to do with a fish...

Fact is, BP's don't live in an environment where fish exist. Fish are alien to them... and, most likely, alien to a BP's digestive system as well.

I don't think that the fish give off a heat or scent signature that a ball python would recognize as prey.

While all snakes are opportunistic to some extent, are you sure they didn't flip out of the water bowl and dry up in the substrate somewhere? It's possible, but not likely that BP's would eat goldfish.

    Re: BP eat gold fish?

There was a line of pet stores back in Indiana that the owner told all employees to feed baby ball pythons crickets cause that's what they ate... .so believe me, more foolish things have been heard of.
