Hi there.
I had one of my males out today, and he did the most bizarre thing.
He has been really active the last few days. Lots of "jabbing/dabbing".
Tonight I was holding him, and he extended and periscoped. Most of my snakes do this when I have them out. But then he flipped his head from side to side. Best I can describe it is that he acted like he had something on the top of his head that he was trying to shake off.
It was not slow and deliberate, it was quite quick. After the third shake, he rubbed the side of his face against my arm and then went back to periscoping.
I doubt it is IBD. I never handle other snakes, I take precautions when handling my own, and I haven't had any new additions in a long time.
He isn't showing any signs of IBD, the face rub was very similar to what we see them do in their tanks regularly.
He has a small bit of stuck skin on his neck below his head, but it is not encircling.
He is still active, but I haven't seen a repeat of this behaviour. Nor have I seen it before, in him, or any of my snakes.
Anyone have any similar experiences? I am finding it quite bizarre.
Bruce
