    New rescued yorkie (no pics)

We had some folks bring in a little Yorkie tonight with parvo. They only bought the dog three days ago, so she had parvo when the breeder sold her. They couldn't afford to treat her, and were ready to euthanize her, but agreed to sign her over to me instead.

So....she's 11 weeks, and a bony 2.4lbs. Huge ears, tiny little paws.

It's too soon to tell if she'll survive, but she's going to get every chance there is. We're even bringing my dog in this morning to give her a blood transfusion for an extra boost. In her favor, she'd had two rounds of shots...but going against that is her incredibly small size and poor body condition.

Sooo...cross your fingers and toes for this kiddo if you please. She's going to need all the help she can get.

Awwww! Poor little dear! It's so heart warming to hear when one of God's little creatures gets a second chance with someone who truly cares. I'll be praying for her full recovery!!

One more reason for people to truly research the breeder before they buy if they go that route.
Poor little thing, if anyone can help her pull thru it is you Jess. Sending lots of healing thoughts your way. Keep us updated please.

Hopefully she'll pull through. My wife and sister in law have yorkies (i guess that technically would make them mine?) and I can tell you they are fighters. I hope everything goes as smooth, you're doing a good thing but it's going to be hard.

Oh man.. I know how Parvo is, from my experiences with my friend who rescues dogs. I hope that she pulls through for you.. I wish you the best of luck. The surrenderer should post billboards and take out classified ads posting about how lousy that breeder is! That is not a breeder.. that is a failure.

    Well crud.

My vet just called and she was agonal in the cage. I gave him permission to go ahead and let her go. I am so angry that she had to go through that.

It was a miserable situation for the family that got her too...their old dog is on its way out, and the parents just divorced, so the mom got the kids a puppy to give them something positive to focus on with all the crap they're going through. So now they've lost this puppy too.

Thank you guys for your positive comments. Unfortunately, she just didn't have the reserves to fight it off.

Re: New rescued yorkie (no pics)

I bought a border collie pup 2 years ago from a breeder, and she ended up having the Parvo Virus. It killed her. We went to small claims court with the breeder, and got our money back, we should have had her pay the 1,000 dollar vet bill too. Just remember when buying from breeders go look at the dogs first, make sure they have vet papers. the pup I looked at was very nice and healthy at there house, but when I got her home she started getting sick.

But 3 months later after her death, and after a serious cleaning. I found the perfect Border Collie! And wasnt clear across houston either..lol. Paid a heck of alot more, but remember, quality before quantity.

I am very sorry to here. I know what it was like, to fight so hard for her, and she has to die for it.

Well that just sucks Jess, for the pup, the family and you guys at the vets office. I'm only a phone call away if you need to vent to someone.
