    WOW HELP! Whining Cat Alarmclock

Can someone please tell me when this crap will stop at 8am every morning?

Then when I wake up he sits are the bedroom door trying to wake my fiance up.

He is about 10 months old and got neutered about 1 month ago.

When I wake up there is usually food out already. If not I give it to him.

Sometimes I get lucky and will wake up, give him food if needed, and get another hour of sleep until he does it again.

    Please help!

Wow does he have you trained.
I suggest going to Walmart and investing in a spray bottle. When he starts his 'song' open the door and give him some good squirts. It won't hurt him but it won't be pleasant. I had to do this with my boy Shiloh and he's FINALLY got the picture.
He does not need food 24/7 no matter what he might think, getting up and feeding him is just reinforcing his behavior. Use the bottle, don't give him any positive reinforcement when he sings.

Stop rewarding him for wailing at the door, and you might see the behavior stop.

I agree, stop rewarding the behavior. It may be difficult at first and he is still going to be capable of waking you guys up but ignore the meowing, don't even get out of bed until you need to or until the cat is quiet.

I have siamese and oriental shorthairs (different color class of the siamese) who are world renowned for being extremely vocal. Not only do they meow a lot but they are loud and sound like a baby screaming/crying. So I feel your pain, but trust me. Ignoring the cat will work wonders.

If you go for the squirt bottle, stay at the door. Don't spray and go back to bed - stay right at the door so you can catch him immediately and he doesn't hear you moving around. Even moving around, getting out of bed, can be rewarding as the cat knows you will open the door. A delayed spray will delay the effect of the method - but if you stay there and as soon as he opens his mouth you open the door, spray, and shut the door, he will learn that all he gets when the door opens is water, and it comes fast.

I only use the ignore method, but I crate train my cats like I crate train puppies. If I didn't I would likely use the squirt bottle more often.

If my cat gets loud in the AM, I give him a squirt with a water spray bottle. It sends him to the other end of the house, where we can't be as annoyed by him.

    Revenge:

Every time you see him taking a nap start yelling loudly and chasing him around the house. It worked with my roomates old cat, he'd leave me alone even if the house were on fire...

Re: WOW HELP! Whining Cat Alarmclock

I either get a cat's meow or a dog kiss if I 'sleep in' on the weekend. For some reason, they think that if I sleep past 8 am then something is wrong. It is understandable because they have a routine for 5 days out of the week....the weekends are different.

I have given up and just go along with it. After all, what else could get me out of bed on the weekend....

....and the spray bottle doesn't work on the cat....It just stands there and closes it's eyes.....weirdo....

...oh ya.....the dog doesn't bother my wife at all.....just me....

....kinda hard to get angry at this face...so I just laugh it off now...
