    What Type of Thermometer

    Hi all!

I tried searching this but my poor tired brain won't let me read any more. I got through a few pages that sort of outlined what I am looking for but not really. I apologize if this has been addressed a million times, if it has please link me to the thread if you can and I will get to reading.

My question is what type of thermometers/hygrometers do you guys prefer? I do not like the adhesive stick to the side of the tank strips, learned my lesson with those a long time ago. Can't find any that are reliable but if you know of any please show me the light

I see such a huge variation in price for digitals it makes my head spin. From 5$ to 50$. I want quality, reliable, but I need several so I was hoping to not have to spend 50$ each, especially if there are better ones out there.

I have seen the Acu-Rites mentioned a few times.. general consensus on these?

Also - do you guys have a thermometer at each end of the tank or do you just check the temps several times a day on the side the thermometer is not mounted on? I'm thinking I want 1 thermometer/hygrometer and 1 thermometer per enclosure.

My brain hurts. Thanks for any help guys

A lot of people like the accu-rites.. they can be found at Walmart (I looked for them in my area, but didn't find any, so I just got another brand of indoor-outdoor thermometer/hygrometer)

Fender, you mean the INSIDE of the Viv? Not much it can do outside of it.

yea i picked up some of those Zilla ones also. I got them for way below what the run retail and I have been real happy with them. They are way to expensive at retail so before you buy I would look around the internet for the best price if you decide to go with one.

I have a zilla thermometer/hygrometer for one of my racks, and like it. It works well. I like the fact that you can check the min/max.

    Re: What Type of Thermometer

Thanks guys, I had seen the Zilla ones and the AcuRites and they seemed to be pretty nice. I just saw huge price differences when I searched for thermometers that I wasn't sure, I didn't want to buy a whole bunch of the 10-15$$ ones to find out they don't work.

I think I'm going to go with the Zilla ones, thanks again!

Oh, I have never used Zilla, and I thought it was the same as the accurite. The unit itself goes onto the cool side to measure the ambient and humidity while the probe goes to the hot spot. That's why I prefer accurite, all 3 measurements on one single screen.
