Loss of a pet
I had my crestie mars in my room in a 10 gallon tank on its side so he could have the highth. His cage was to high for my kids to even get near or my cat but some how he got out. I misted him this morning and he was fine but just now my daughter brought him to me out of her room. He had already died and his eyes were sunken in. I just don't know how this happened or what even happened. My poor daughter just keeps saying mommy what happened.

Re: Loss of a pet
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Some people dont understand how sad it is to lose a herp. They only cry when a cat or dog dies. I love my herps like part of the family. Again so sorry to hear about your loss.

Re: Loss of a pet
Awww I'm so sorry to hear about Mars. The loss of any pet is always hard to deal with especially with children. It is though a life lesson to learn and up to us parents to help them accept the loss and cherish the memories. I've faced it with my own kids and various pets over the years. It's never easy but it is a part of pet keeping all parents have to face with their kiddo's. Big hugs and sorry to hear about little Mars passing today.

Re: Loss of a pet
I knew it was going to happen with her being around pets eventually but even at 3 she kinda understands that he's gone to a better place. I would take him out nd let her hold him for a few minutes and she loved how he would jump from her hand to her chest. I gave him a couple mealworms last night just becasue I ran out of crix and he loved to chase live food....im just wondering if those were really bad for him or not?

Re: Loss of a pet
sorry to hear about your loss. truly am. I hope that this incident does not discourage you to get another.
There is a difference between taking care and neglecting your pet only to have them pass away. Im sure you took care of him everyway you can and passed away with good thoughts of you and not bad.

i'm sorry for your loss.
mealworms aren't good for cresteds because they can't digest their chitinous shells. even if he ate a bunch and somehow got impacted it wouldn't affect him in enough in 24 hours time to cause death so i wouldn't worry about that having had anything to do with it.

so sorry to hear of your loss.We lost our leo not too long ago and its hard to even look at his pictures right now.. But like others have said hopefully it wont stop you from having more.. The Herps are so facinating. My little boy prefers them over the dogs or cats or birds ..
