    The final set up

So, I went to go get a thermostat at this place I called eariler. I get there and all they have is this rheostat. Fail.

So I go to this reptile place and they don't have then either. So I got to thinking...

I ended up buying another mini UTH and a good water bowl from them. I was about to go to Target to just get him set up in a Sterilite tub but thought of another idea...

I drove to this place called "Tap Plastics" and bought a 20x10 piece of plexiglass. Got home, cut out that mesh from the lid and installed it into the lid frame. Fits like a glove. I drilled 10 holes in the top for ventilation.

I also bought supplies to build another rheostat. I put my thermometer prob in the cool side, and adjuested the rheostat to 80 and got it to hold around there. Then moved the probe back to the warm side.

    Problem solved!

Oh, and I got a nice surprise, I came back upstairs after eating with the boyfriends family, and Irwin was out and about! I think he's acclimating quite well.

Sounds pretty cool. How did you secure the plexiglass?

When I cut the mesh out of the metal frame, I just used some hot glue and to really secure it, I used some tape.

    Works great.

Sounds awesome... My Hubby will build a new enclosure for George as he gets bigger... I am sure! Do you have any pictures of your new set up?

Not right now, I'm moving tomorrow so once I get his tank all set up again I'll snap a few shots.

Make sure the tape is only on the outside! If George trys rubbing on the top exploring, He can rub the tape off...and scales then skin...its not good. Also, be careful when he gets a bit bigger because he will laughingly push the plexi with the hot glue out...they are surprisingly strong and as people say Escape artists...Just hate to see the 'Warden'(you) having to search frantically for him....Trav

Yes, the tape is only on the outside.

And I have put good use to my otherwise useless heavy math book...if you know what I mean...
