Re: new pics, big changes since crickets added to diet!
if you know how to pore sex using a jeweler's loupe you can sex a crested at as young as 3-4 months of age, otherwise it can take 6+ months to be able to identify males and 9-12+ months to be able to positively identify females.
how old is halo now? if he is at least 3 months you can send me some clost up shots of his cloacal area and i'll have a look but i can't promise i'll be able to tell anything. it's easier for me to sex them in person, but most people don't take the nice clear photos that you do.

I wouldn't relate the cricket feeding to color increase......as crested geckos(and most other geckos) grow they generally gain color, so there would be an 'enhancement' anyways...just as long as they are getting bigger
Now, if you are feeding crickets gutloaded on a betacarotine rich food........you might see some difference in color

thats for the info!
Emily, I was so scared to rub their noses in fear i would irritate their skin and cause them to drop their tails on me... i still dip their noses so i might as well leave it at this point. When I get home tonight I'll try taking pics of hallo and see what i can get.. do i need to raise "his" tail or anything like i would a beardie? hes about 4mos old (hatched in august)

you don't need to raise his tail--just get straight on shots of the cloacal and pre-anal area.
