Help ! Mites on my ball python

Just got another ball python from a guy basicly for free.
But it turned out it's got mytes. Otherwise healthy 1yr old.
I keep him quarantined in a plastic box and applied Reptile Relief on its body. What is the most effective way to rid of these suckers? How can I clean the tank to get rid of the myte eggs? I sprayed thoroughly the tank with that reptile relief which seems to kill them instantly but is it effective on killing the eggs?
Any help is greatly appreciated, Thank You

I don't have any experience dealing with mites, but everyone says that Provent a Mite is the way to go.

Re: Help ! Mites on my ball python

well the reason that I didn't get prevent a mite is because the reptile relief had twice the active ingredient of the prevent a mite (also twice as expensive and claims to kill them on contact and infact it killed a bunch instantly) But as far as eggs go I'm not sure whether it destroys them

I know you get it at LLL...others folks may have other recommendations. It's expensive, but it works. =)

reptile relief. it kills on contact (mites and ticks), kills eggs, and its pretty cheap. when i brought my bp home she had mites, one application and no more mites. i also sprayed the bottom of the tank after cleaning with a bleach/water solution.

Re: Help ! Mites on my ball python

Hit them with the one two combo! Provent-a-mite can be sprayed on the bedding and in the tank and the residual will continue to kill mites for a month. Follow the directions closely!

Reptile Relief can be used on the animal to kill any that are actually on the animal at the time.

Some people I have talked to will soak a snake first to drown the mites on the snake and to force out any that are hiding in the scutes and then use the Reptile Relief. Just follow directions closely!
