    Excellent article!

    Just one question:

I'm trying to get a feel for what the lid of your cage looks like, with the 1 ceramic lamp and 2 light lamps (day/night). Are you using two clamp lamps for both lights? I have a screen on top of my cage now, and I plan on fabricating a top out of plexiglass. Would you mind posting a sketch of your lid?

Me too, but when I make my Plexiglas lid, I plan on just putting a piece ontop to hold in the moisture, so it might not be very efficient

Ya, I did after 48 hours he was crawling around under a cabinet where I had set up a scent trap the previous day. I think I scared him because he hissed but he's back now. Thanx.

Thumbs up Re: Glass tank setup

You guys ROCK!!! Thank u for posting this thread - I was having humidity issues - but no more .

I went out last night and hit up the craft dept. at WalMart and bought a heavy clear vinyl (versus plexiglass), cut it to size to cover the mesh top and cut 2 holes for my heat lamps.

Presto - Humidity is holding steady at 60% in both tanks - Yeah!!!! No more constant misting. Not to mention - it looks great too and it was inexpensive only $3.24 for a yard! (less than 1/2 yard per 40 Gallon tank)

    Thanks again!!!!

Sorry to reply to late to your question. We used one lamp stand for the CHE, but just 2 clip lamps that clipped onto the desk the 20L was sitting. None of the three lamps attached to the 20L.

Lemme see if I can find a picture...

    *edit*
And I don't have any pix here at work, on photobucket or in my gallery, so I'll have to find something when I'm at home...

Not sure if this might help - I went to Lowes and bought 2 (per tank) decorative rod-iron plant hooks and mounted them to the wall above the tanks - so now the heat lamps look like pennant lights - it turned out REALLY well. I will try to get a pic if I remember when I get home from work.

    Re: Glass tank setup

Oh that sounds really nice...much more attractive than the Zoo Med lamp stands we used in the past. =)
