    Computer issue.

    My disk drive keeps ejecting.

It will do it randomly and will never close most the time. Just keeps opening! Should I try to reinstall the drive?

I will assume you mean "disc" drive (cd or dvd).

Does it eject randomly when you are not connected to the internet?

Try disconnecting from your modem/network card and reboot your PC (leaving the internet disconnected) and see if it stops the random ejecting.

CD/DVD disc drives will generally refuse to open if they are faulty, but in years of doing computer service I have never seen one keep ejecting due to a faulty drive.

I would say there is most likely a trojan on your computer. One of the most popular gags built into older trojans was the ability to eject the CD/DVD drive on an infected machine.

If you disconnect from the internet and it still ejects randomly, it could be a piece of software glitching (driver, dvd software, etc) telling the drive that you told it to eject when you didn't, but I would say it's most likely to be a trojan.

The above statement is based solely on my years of doing onsite commercial and residential computer repair. It could be something entirely different, but this gives you something to try.

A friend of mine from work had the same problem, weird. I put Avast antivirus (free download and works great I use it on all the computers I build) and it found a bunch of Trojans on his computer, worth a shot

Could there be a cd stuck in there?

I'll try checking about the trojan.

Just another thought...I have come across times where a foreign object has caused the tray to eject. Some drives will automatically eject also if for some reason it is not able to close all the way. Look at it closely and check and see if it is in fact closing all the way, sometimes even its just a little bit that it can't retract you get this reaction.

Yeah the only reason I didn't think much about a Trojan is that I'm not getting any spy ware and no pop ups or anything that a Trojan usually does. I've been running ad-aware.

My computer hasn't been slow or anything. I don't have any anti-virus, but can anyone recommend a good site to download a free one?
