Snake skin
So I was looking at some stuff in my shed which is in pretty bad condition. The celling has pieces missing and you can easily see insulation.
When I noticed a shed from a snake hanging 2-3 feet hanging from the ceiling inside a tube of insulation. I stood on a washer in the corner and found another. I left the other since I couldn't pull it completely out without ripping it.
It's a full shed including the eye lenses, expect most of its nose. It measures out to be 4 feet 3 inches and a half dollar if not bigger around. I live in southern Missouri. I live a couple of miles of city limits. I've known of 6 foot black snakes to be around the hay bells which are behind the shed.
If they are still in there do you think I should go and try to capture one? How would I go about this? Could this be a different snake?
The top of the skin looks the darkest at the top, and looks almost like fish scales overlapping.

Re: Snake skin
No idea, but could be a black rat snake. You can have a look around and see if the fella is cooperative. Other than that, I am new to field herping. I'll come back in a year and letcha know.
Did you save the "trophy"? We have two black snake skins that my husband got out of the crawl space. I hung them in the pantry to scare away the wild mice.

Re: Snake skin
It is funny where you'll find snake sheds. We found some up in the third-story crawlspace in this house. Snakes are most-likely slithering through the walls of this place as I sleep!

I could see the native garter snakes slithering into my snake room and taunting the BPs. "Haha! Captives!" Then the BPs smiling and saying "when have YOU had your last easy, well-fed, healthy rat meal?" And the garters stopping, thinking, and slinking out.
