Fixing small hole in water bottle?
First off, my apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong sub-forum. Seemed like the right place. Second, I love this area... some of the threads on here gave me the confidence to build my own snake rack, breed my own rodents, and even build my own rat racks. So let me thank everyone who contributes around here because, honestly, you've helped me out a lot.
I have an 8oz Critter Canteen water bottle with a very small hole in it. My rat breeding project is going very well and I need every extra bottle I can get. I'm wondering if anyone knows whether or not it would safe to seal this hole with Loctite silicone aquarium sealant. The sealant is waterproof and I'm sure it would work vis a vis repairing the hole, I'm just worried that it might contaminate the water with toxins that could poison my rodents or, eventually, my snakes. Does anybody have any experience or advice they could share?
The hole itself is about 1/16th of an inch long and the same width. It was caused by a finicky female; for some reason, she would tug and tug on the bottle in every direction (through the hardware cloth) until it overturned. One night she did this, probably got thirsty because she couldn't reach the spigot anymore, and chewed a small hole directly into the bottle.
Thanks for any help anyone can give!

Re: Fixing small hole in water bottle?
I dont know if going through the trouble to try n seal it would be worth it, cuz it might still leak. Id just replace it.

I'm not familiar with the bottle, but would hot glue be an option?

Oh, I should have mentioned that the reason I'm asking specifically about the aquarium sealant is that I have some and plenty of it. I don't have any hot glue or a soldering gun or anything else. Thanks for the responses, though.

I'd say go ahead and try it. If it's safe to use in aquariums, it's safe to use on a water bottle.

When I get a small hole like that I use gel super glue.

I use 2 part epoxy putty. It is a permanent fix.

That is the route I would try.

I used the aquarium sealant for years without issues.
