New Signature Limits!

New folks may not realize we have limits on signature lengths and graphics. Older folks may have forgotten, or just noticed that we've gotten a bit lenient in enforcing them. After noticing an increasing number of significantly oversized signatures, we took some time to review the current policy and make it a bit more generous than it has been in the past.

Please take a moment to review the new limits, and then check your own signature to make sure it complies.

5. In order to avoid unreasonable scrolling and problems with formatting, we request that avatars be limited to no more than 120 pixels wide by 120 pixels high and 117 kilobytes. Signature banners be limited to no more than 450 pixels wide by 100 pixels high and 150 kilobytes, and signatures be limited to 10 lines of standard-sized text without a banner graphic on a 1024x768 resolution screen or 4 lines with a banner on the same resolution. Using a size-1 font will allow more lines in your signature, up to 20 without graphics, or 8 lines with a banner. The number of lines used includes blank lines.

Also for those who browse the site from work or wish for a much more streamlined or text-based look to things (less scrolling etc) there are a couple of options you can leverage in your user control panel to help with this:

If you go into the UserCP and select Edit Options from the left column you can scroll down to Thread Display Options and from there keep Avatars, Signatures and in-line images [img] from being displayed.
