That's not how you eat it!

Well, I got Slytherin to eat today. I let the mouse thaw on top of is tub, hit it with the blow dryer, and stuck it in there. He wasn't interested, so after I while I took it out, warmed it again, and accidentally dropped it on him. (The rat tale broke in half. ew.)

He grabbed the mouse by the tail, and dragged it into his water dish, let it sit there for a minute, then started eating it. Never constricted, just drowned it. His mommy didn't give him the "constrict your food before you eat it" talk.

Weird. I when I first switched one of my snakes over to f/t she wouldn't strike, would just come up and open her mouth and try to swallow. If I was holding it on tongs she'd open her mouth and try and start eating it while it was on the tongs! I kept meaning to get a video but never got arround to it. Now I really wish I had because she doesn't do it anymore!

My oldest male is from like 92 or 93. He use to wait till the rat was buy the water. Then he would grab it and constrict it in the water. He would stay in the water and finish it. He doesnt do it now cause i have him in a tub now. With a smaller water dish. Not really sure why he did it. I was giving him X large rats at the time. Maybe was easier for him to get them down. When they were wet.

I also had one that would do something like that. When it was younger. Only to a live mouse or rat. Would go up to it and not strike at it. Slowly go up to it put his nose on the rat/mouses side. Then open his mouth and grab it and try to eat it like that. Would then figure out it was alive and then wrap around it. The weird thing is i never fed him f/t and he was one i hatched out. So i know hes never had f/t.
