    Best BP book?

I'm trying to decide what book to purchase and I hope you all can help! I think I'd like to do a poll to see what is overall recommended most, but I'm not even sure what titles to put on the poll.

What I am looking for is ONE good book on the keeping of ball pythons. It should be suitable for beginners in the sense that it does not assume I know stuff already, but after starting there, go into much more depth and advanced stuff.

I'm more interested in good quality information than I am in pretty pictures.

It does not need to cover breeding or morphs, but if the book that is best on general keeping stuff covers these also, then that's ok.

    Thanks!

I think there are only two that fit those criteria:

Ball Pythons of the World Volume 2 by Dave and Tracy Barker and The Complete Ball Python by Kevin McCurley.

You can't go wrong with either of those books.

Based on your criteria, I would suggest you pick up The Complete Ball Python by Kevin McCurley first. Then when you are hungry for more in depth information, get Pythons of the World, Vol II: Ball Pythons by Barker and Barker. Both links are in the post above mine.

I have both books and love them both! The second book is a bit more comprehensive than the first.

    Ditto!

However, if cost is a concern, an alternative, also written by Kevin McCurley is Ball Pythons in Captivity

    Re: Best BP book?

    Hi,

    I have two of them;

Ball Python Manual - Philippe De Vosjoli

Extremely good book - not a massive amount of pictures but very good information overall. There is a typo though as it is a softback not a hardback and only has 74 pages. Also pay attention to the release dates and isbn as there have been at least 3 editions as updates are released ( I know this because I have 3 versions) - that one seems to be the latest. I would however go for Kevin McCurleys "ball pythons in captivity" as it is closer to the way we normally recomend things (Gee I wonder why that could be? ). It also has some stunning photographs to go with the great info.

They complement each other beautifully. Check out ebay if your having trouble tracking them down. Or of course order direct from N.E.R.D. and see if you can get them to sign it.

    Ball Pythons - John Coborn

However is an older book with some outdated information in it - it's not worthless or anything but the two mentioned above are far better.

I haven't read the other two in that list so can't comment on them.
