    Angry Not producing!

Ive got a large female abino rat that wont produce. Ive thrown in a few males with her already. A 1 large male, 2 medium males, and a couple small size ones and nothing. No signs of nipples buldging out or anything. I do hear them getting it on, but yet nothing.

I have her In a 10gal. with blacked out sides and back.

I think its the mazuri blocks. its the diet/breeder rat blocks. Local feed didnt have the regular breeding blocks so I figured this will work. Do you guys think its the blocks or just the rat(s).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks agan.

    Re: Not producing!

It's probably the rat itself, I've never heard of a feed making them infertile. Get a different breeder...

How long are you leaving each male in with her? Why do you have the sides and back blacked out? What's her weight?

Also, how long has it been since she was bred? Remembering is takes about 22 days from inception to birth.

Also are you using a 10 gallon for a breeding tank? If so, that's a pretty small area for two good sized adults to be in. I see you mentioned she's "large". Did you just buy her somewhere or have you had her since she was a weanling (trying to figure out if she's an older female that is too late in life to breed anymore).

I got her at petsclub nearby when she was a medium. They get their rodents from a breeder about 1hr 1/2 away. Yeah, I dont have a scale yet. sorry. but she is quite big(large size) now.

    Re: Not producing!

I feed just about a couple hundred pounds of Mazuri a week at this point and my production is amazing! ... It's not the food ... Put her with the biggest boy you can get your hands on and leave them together until she looks like she has a baseball inside her. Then pull the boy out and wait. Trust me, the 8 Ball rodent breeding plan is MONEY!

    Re: Not producing!

Not the food I use the same and have no issue.

    Leaving them for about 3-5days.
Just leave them together until you see that the female is pregnant than remove the male.

I would also suggest you to get a scale, the optimal weight for a female to breed is 250 grams, if you breed her before that there is more chances for complications and small litter.

You might also want to house 1.2 together, rather than 1.1.
