i think i have a bug problem help.

ok ive been watching my tank for awhile now and i switched to mulch for about 2-3 weeks. and ive started to see some piles of tanish powder. at first i couldnt figure out where it was comming from but now i know. there are little black bugs (that have wings) in there. they are eating at the fake wood. i looked at the wood and there are about 30-40 little bitty holes in there. i guess this bug eats at the wood. i was wondering what is the best way to get ride of them. i was thinking of just buying some bed-a-beast substarte and getting ride of the mulch. do you think i should get new fake wood or try and soak the old ones to kill the bugs.. there just really annoying when you see a pile of fine grain wood in there and see them crawling around.

if it was me, i'd probably clean out the tank thoroughly and get some new substrate. i definitely wouldn't want to risk them coming back.

yeah tomorrow i think i will change it out. should i get aspen or bed-a-beast. i feed inside the cage and i just dont want him accidentally swallowing down a piece of substrate and hurting him.

Another good reason to use newspaper, no bugs.

I use repti-bark + a mix of bed a beast for humidity reasons. Works great.

I've got a glass tank as well, with tin foiled lid.

it's the glass tank that doesn't hold humidity well.
