    just a little guy

Not that there's too many people out there that would probably care. But I just picked up a digital scale I'm borrowing from a friend of mine.

The little guy was out roaming around in the tank. So I snatched him up and dropped him on the scale.

Weighed in at an astonishing 54 grams!!!! Woot! He's tiny. Haha. Eats great every week. 1 fuzzie.

Does that seem too small? The place I got him from wasn't sure exactly how old he was. I'm guessing 2 months.

54 grams? Wowwie - an average hatchling is around 70 grams. How long have you had him? How many weeks has he eaten?

    Re: just a little guy

Ive had him for 3 weeks. He eats every Friday.

Has eaten a fuzzie with no problems every week. Should I bump his feeding up to say every 5 or 6 days?

No signs of any mites or anything of that sort. He's a great little guy. Nothing he does would lead me to believe he's sick in any way.

i would stick to fuzzies once a week until he's around 70-80 grams. then go up to hoppers, keep him eating weekly. too much food too fast is a waste, and i've noticed the best growth on the ones that eat every week.

So steady feeding. Is the 54 grams to be concerned about?

Just 1 fuzzie a week should be enough for him?

54 grams is on the small side, just keep him eating steady, weekly. fuzzies vary a bit on size, as long as it seems to fill him up, do what works and what he will eat weekly. just keep him eating steady and he'll grow up before you know it!

    Re: just a little guy

Thanks Vaughn! Ill weigh him weekly and see how he's doin weight wise.

Once again this forum rocks! I'm gonna take him to the vet this Friday and have him sexed. And take a poop sample with me if he decides to let go of one for me. Make sure everything is ok. Thanks for the help guys!

I wasn't sure if I needed to go into a rescue mode here and try and feed him more frequently to get him up to a better weight.
