Roaches? Wheres a good place to order?
Specifically, Blaptica Dubia. (hope I spelled that right) I would like to start breeding them and using them for feeders. I am just not sure who or where to order them from. I am not so concerned with prices as I am customer service.
Thanks,
Kristy

when i was breeding dubia i got my starter colony from www.blaberus.com. i keep lateralis now (got the starters from a friend) but i still get the water crystals and roach food from blaberus. they also have great caresheets and other info on all the different roaches they sell, which i have found to be a great resource.

Thanks Emily, I checked them out but wasn't sure. I will order from them.
So as far as the Cresties go, do they like the roaches? I am so tired of dealing with crickets, the smell so horrible, the die too fast and the are hard to breed.
I am hoping the cresties just go nuts over them.

my cresteds like them although i don't feed them to the cresteds often because they are able to escape from the cages/setup i use. i am thinking about putting some bug stop along the edge of a medium sized deli cup and serving the roaches to them that way so they can't escape.
go by the caresheet on blaptica and the dubia should thrive and breed quite well. they are also the least smelly roach i've kept--virtually no smell at all!

I would look at lateralis roaches, if your feeding to cresties. They are a faster breeder and still a non climber. They're supposedly really fast but I don't think so. My local pet store stocks them and everything I feed them to likes them.

the lateralis are really fast! way faster than the dubia. i have a hard time picking out the little ones for my aussie geckos--they can get away from you quick!

Thats why I ordered the Dubias. I actually hate roaches, I am terrified of them lol. The only creature I am actually freaked out by. So I wanted to get something slower so I can get used to them.
I can handle scropions, T's, lots of other large bugs but for some reason Roaches freak me out. I will get over it though, they can't be any worse than the Hobo spiders I have that chase me across the kitchen. Those things scare me, getting bit by one of those was horrible. I thought I was going to die.

you'll like the dubias. they are nice and easy to handle. once you get used to them you can work up to speedy lateralis--they look and act more roachy than the dubia so it may be good that you aren't starting with them.
