So how old is the site really?

When I went back to look at the oldest posts, it said the year was 1969. I couldn't help but chuckle at that.

I tend to think the forum started 8-5-2003. Because that is the earliest of any of the members join dates!

    Ben is right.

The 1969 dates (which, as you said, are chuckle-worthy) came about after a server move that caused a weird database glitch, if I remember correctly.

Yes and no. Godfather started it and "admincouncil" changed the software over to vBulletin (which might have been where the funky dates came into play...I'm really not sure)....but the original account creation dates remain the same. Peter started the site in Aug of '03.

Re: So how old is the site really?

Oh my this site is old. It began in the early 03 I think. But it wasn't bp.net. Then I got booted off my subdomain and went to another subdomain with another host. Then in the latter of 03 I got it a domain name an it's own host and it became bp.net.

I put a lot of work into bringing people into bp.net. First of all, you can't just make a community emerge, nobody wanted to post in a dead forum. So I spent hours making bp.net noticeable enough to convince people to join. Then hours spent trying to get people here to make the community alive enough to be self sustaining. I had to get the word out, had to make people want to stay instead of just going to something like KS. It might seem easy, it isn't.

And the 1969 thing has nothing to do with the transfer. It's a glitch in the software I've seen on other sites. Watch out for something along the lines of a member who's post count will read as 0, their join date will then show 1969 I think. And they will have like infinite reps. Crazy stuff, but cool at least.

BTW, to Smulkin. It would be beneficial to look into getting a code to make the site display as html links. Makes the search engines love it a lot more. It will take a couple months to get results, but you'll eventually start getting more hits from search engines and it will help ya grow.

I don't run any forums, barely use the net too much these days. I own 2 balls and a bci right now. Had a atb but was forced to part with him when I left for bootcamp. I spend a lot of time either hanging out, bodybuilding, working, and trying to move my life forward. Girls take up a good portion of my day with their drama.

Speaking as a girl.....get use to it, it will never change. It seems if a girl is 8 or 80 drama is a part of how their wheels turn. Even if their life is drama free it will still find them...thru friends, family etc.

Wow I didn't realize when I joined you guys were only 4 mos old. This site has grown so much. I actually found this site from a google search. Glad I did
