Rosie, Brutus, and Adrian! Oh my!

In a desperate attempt to get Adrian to calm down.. I've moved her to a lower traffic area. After a few days of being in my room, I'll get to handling her a little.

    And, her setup.

Brutus.. he likes to hide under his paper towels. He used to love those little rock hides like Adrian has, but he grew out of them. Now, we can't find anything to hide under.

    And, his belly.

    Rosie! She loves pony tails.

Have you tried covering the sides of Adrian's aquarium? This should help her feel more secure.

I've taped black garbage bags along the sides and back of my 42g breeder tank to give Zeus more security. They don't like the clear glass and seeing every little movement.

If U can't find hides, how about margarine tubs with a hole cut in the bottom? Or little generic tupperware-type plastic cereal bowls with a hole??? That's what I have, and they love the squeeze.

plastic bottems for potted plants work great, and they have them pretty big. you can find them at walmart, lowes, home depot, ect.

also if those are too small, try a kitty litter box, just cut a little whole in the top.

as for the back of the tank i bought some designed paper at jo ann fabrics (an arts and crafty kind of store) and taped them all around the tank. also you can try the plastic vinyl sheets they use on the back of fishtanks, they have those at mosst pet stores.

Hm, I never thought that the problem is she hates seeing everything. So, if I cover the sides, this should make her feel secure and maybe help with her aggression? I use dark construction paper for my beardie, so we'll try that tomorrow.

Re: Rosie, Brutus, and Adrian! Oh my!

Balls are timid, and are ambush hunters. That's why they stay in the hides (or under the newspaper/paper towels) & only peek out for eating, etc. In fact mine have even poo'd IN the tub hides w/only their heads peeking out, like they can't stand the smell, but don't want to come out. One is notorious for doing his biz in the hide. I know he's poo'd b/c that's the only time he'd come out. Once I clean and sanitize it, he goes back in until the next poo.

If your snake is an adult, I've got lg. plastic dog bowls w/holes melted in the sides OR top for my adult snakes. My 2 y.o. boa uses the lg. igloos for hides in his tub.
