    Quick heating question

Which heating method do you all feel is better for a blood?

A hot and cool side or 1 temperature throughout the tank?

I keep reading different opinions on this over the net and from talking to people so I was just curious what you all thought.

    Re: Quick heating question

For me I choose to have a gradient of warm and cool.

Meaning the "warm" side is 85-88 degrees and the "cool" side is 77-78 degrees.

I know some people choose one temps throughout the cage but I like to give my snake the option of "warm" and "cool". I guess I'm not really sure what is the best option.

    Re: Quick heating question

I have a cave on each side of the cage with temps 78-80 on the cool and a basking spot of 92. I never see him go to the hot side though.

    Is 92 a bit much?

Do you watch him 24/7? I can go weeks seeing my BP sitting in the cool side and never basking and vice versa. I thought all snakes needed a chance for thermoregulation.

You can always tell where my Blood has been because of the bed-a-beast substrate. There will be a trail going right into the cave.

Yeah me to. That's the way I always set things up.

    Re: Quick heating question

I would say 92 is a bit much. Your cool side is perfect.

Bump it down to 88 and see what happens.

    Re: Quick heating question

So far so good 8b8ll! I have the thermostat set to 90 and it stays on the hot side around 88-89. Cool side 78.

I even caught him earlier today in his cave on the hot side.

I have a new enclosure coming from Reptile Basic this week so pics to come.
