Ticks, mites, ring worm, baby itty bitty spiders, lice, fleas... all fall under the "OMG BURN THE CLOTHS AND SPRAY THE HOUSE WITH PAM" catigory. then I take like 3 showers. EWWW! I dont know what bugs me so much about them .. it is almost like I just rolled in something toxic and I have to get rid of everything I wore.

The clothes i had on the day I met the Burm with mites.. After I washed the cloths and took 2 showers I still tossed out the cloths. (then took one more shower)

Preventic collars... Love 'em, and won't use anything else for ticks, ever. That and Frontline and nothing will ever get on your dogs again.

A vet tech friend of mine got Lyme Disease years ago from a tick on her chest. Poor woman! She felt like crapola for quite awhile.

Ticks; argh. I always wear long pants, socks and sturdy boots out in the woods; I never go hiking in shorts or sandals. Too many plants and animals and insects out there with a vendetta against humans.. I have never personally had a tick, but mark did in his scalp once.. argh.
Our house was Infested with fleas when we first moved in. The prev. tenant had cats, and the house had been vacated for a few weeks; the starving fleas attacked me and I literally looked like I had chicken pox all over from the knees down.. bombed the house, didn't eradicate them until we did get a cat and used Advantage on him.. awesome stuff!
Horse people: how about bots and horse lice..? Good times!

If you just got your baby from a pet store, it's mostly likely she came in with them and they were missed. Quite a few of the CH babies from Africa have ticks and other parasites when they arrive here.

This is one of the reasons I LOVE living in Western Washington. We just don't have to worry about some of the nasty things warmer places in the country do. True, we can have some pretty bad flea outbreaks, but that's not as bad to me as ticks and other crawly things
