    a year old now...

My pair of gaboons are about a year old this month so I thought I'd post some pics of them showing their outstanding growth over the past 9-10 months... I picked both of them up at the end of the summer last year when they were both a couple months old...

Here they are together right after I picked them up. The female (katie) is on top and then the male (douglas) on the bottom... they weighed in at 71 grams (douglas) and 82 grams (katie) back in july/august of 2006.

baby katie poking her head out...

and now for the comparisons. I hope you all get a kick out of this as much as I do...

Here's a few of baby doug...

and then douglas now, at 1,154 grams...

and then katie as a baby (NOTICE the tupperware top: it's the same top in the baby pics as in the current ones)

and then katie now, at almost 2,400 grams...

and in this one, you can tell how thick she's gotten... She's about 3.5 inches wide in this shot, but that's while she's in a normal position. When she flattens out, she can hit almost 5 inches across!

and then a little fang flexing for you all... pretty flexible aren't they??

well, it's been crazy, but they just keep growing... let me know what you think... does anyone else have '06's that have grown this fast??

They are amazing looking! We were just checking out a big gaboon that's housed at the Toledo Zoo this past weekend and were amazed at how it blended in so well with it's leaf litter substrate. Gorgeous patterns and impressive snakes. I can't believe how much yours have grown this past year. Your pictures are fantastic, I've never seen such lovely ones of gabbies before, thanks.

Wow! What a gorgeous pair of gabbies! I never thought I'd say this about deadly snakes, but those baby pics are cute!

How is there behavior? Like if you go to move them while cleaning, do they go on ferocious snake mode?
