Terrarium is built and awaiting plants

    I finished the structural work/hardscape on my terrarium recently. It's 4ft x 18" by 21" tall.
It's got a couple plants in it but needs a TON more. I'm waiting until after my vacation in May to finish ordering plants to fill it up.
I took a couple pictures that show the hardscape really well. The left side has a running waterfall and pond area.
Hoping to grow some nice orchids and house some dart frogs

The buildup pics are not all online yet, but here is where they are:

here is my only other terrarium to date, a 10 gallon tank:

I highly recommend this hobby. you get greenery all year, it's low maintenance (except watering, which can be automated), and if you have kids it's a fun project to work on together.

    I highly recommend this vendor:

they are located in western MA and have an AMAZING store packed full of mature terrariums housing dart frogs. They are fun to visit and have the best stock of materials, plants, and livestock in the entire USA.

Nice start. I can't wait to see it once all the plants are in and grown. I just set up my first dart frog vivarium on Sunday evening. It was an impulse purchase, but I was addicted by the time I finished the terrarium. I already have plans for my next one, a 20gal long with a trio of either Azarius' or black and green. Costa Ricans. I have more orchids, philodendrums, ferns, ivy and moss on there way.
What are these mojavas I keep hearing so much about?

Very nice. Sounds like something I could get into, but if I mention getting one more type of animal to my fiance, I think I'm dead meat.

great plant choice i noticed the squill and the jewel orchid... and the masdevallia maybe in the middle mounted? anyway, although it already does now, its gonna look great after planting is finished and it grows out a bit, planting the terrarium was one of my favorite parts of keeping frogs.

I think this is the best part too. I never really liked plants, but when set this up, I was imediately addicted. I went online and ordered up a bunch of tropicals and jewel orchids, and started planning my next tank. I'll be adding more pics when it is fully planted and grows out a little.

    thanks everyone

you are right on the plant ID's...I adore the jewel orchids, and figured I would try a Bulbophyllum longissimum and a Masdevallia bicolor for starter bloom orchids. I can't wait to order more plants!

    excellent link very nice setup
