Re: Oh snap!
It seems that a lot of people who have little or no experience with Retics are trying to nag someone who does. I think thats unfair. Me, I know little about Retics so I am not going to state my opinion. However...there's no need to be snippy or rude to other peoples opinions when they differ from yours. No need to be a smart a** either. Let's all embrace in a friendly Retic hug!! (dies of cardiac arrest)
8b8ll...I couldn't agree with you more. Videos like that make snakes seem more like animals than pets. If that makes any sense.

Re: Oh snap!
I'm still very upset about that video. Wish there was never a youtube.....I'm sick of everyday seeing another video of some snake being exploited...when did it become a constest of whos snake can eat the bigger animal?? No I am not talking about the person in the post...people in general seem to make a big spectacle of feeding there snakes a HUGE prey item video taping it.
I can't speak on this subject anymore.

Almost 2 months after making this benign and helpful suggestion I get hit with an anonymous neg. rep point? Sorry, go ahead and handle a bunch of herps and dead animals without washing your hands for days. That's smart, too.

Re: Oh snap!
I just joined and was browsing and came across this post ...the prey item this gentleman posted isn't overly big. Retics should not be fed like a boa or ball. They are designed to ingest a prey item 1/4 both their weight and length. That barely left a bulge in that retic in the post feeding photo, indicating a suitable size, in fact...a perfect meal.

Re: Oh snap!
^ Agreed 100%. I've owned and bred Retics for 10 years and HAVE NEVER had a retic die from eating a good sized prey item. I am new but going to say this
It's not proper to comment on something from an uneducated opinion on a species. What works for one species more often then not does not work for another

Re: Oh snap!
I just joined and I want to point out that this prey item is in no way whatsoever too big for a retic, they arent bp's or boas and can ingest much larger prey than either of those animals can.
