Does anyone use the homemade humidifier?

I was just wondering, i use it and i took the output hose, wraped it around int he inside of the tank and poked several holes throughout the hose. It worked for a little while, now its not doing anything. I tweeked it a bit and now its got humidity up to 47, my question is will it work fine if i just put the hose in say in the middle of the tank with no holes except the one at the end? i figured by haveing it around the tank it would spread the humidity evenly around the tank(Glass btw). I plan to try some new things, i have an idea to use like pvc pipeing so it does not require so much pressure to push though a longer distance, if it works well enough maybe it can be added to the DIY for the homemade humidifier.

I've used one similar to that. The differences are that I didn't use an airstone, and I placed a sponge inside the jar. The sponge will cause the air to flow through much more moisture helping to saturate it. Even still, it worked ok, but not great.

You mentioned that you're using a glass tank. Have you covered the screen top? There's a "sticky" in the husbandry forum entitled "Glass tank setup". You might take a look at that. Covering the top will help keep the humidity up. Jen uses foil and duct tape to close off the top. I use saran wrap.

    Hope this helps.

Yes, just stuffed the sponge into the jar, with the intake hose shoved to the bottom of the jar, so that the air is forced through the sponge on its way out.

I didn't put any holes in mine, just the tube coming from the jar. I use a 1/2 gallon jar not the Gatorade bottle. It may take a day to get the humidity up. Mine stays between 50 and 54 %.

Re: Does anyone use the homemade humidifier?

it seems to work better just haveing the hose in there, and not wrapped around with little holes around it. I got a larger hose i think im ganna try that way, but i got the hose at one end faceing the other end so the hygrometer is on the total oposite side and its readin 57 now so that seems to work fine.

I got my idea from this site. Go to caresheets, then DIY. It has instructions and pics. The one I use is like that one. It gets the humidity up well.
