    Abbath is kickin arse!

When I got Abbath he was and still is a healthy snake but with so-so eating. He'd refuse eating and would take sometimes a day or so to eat 1 rat pup. I know, a rat pup seems like a small meal but he has always seem skiddish around prey and any food is better then none. Well, after fine tuning his husbandry I got him to eat 2 large rat pups last week. Both were consumed within an hour of being put in his tub. This week he ate 3 large rat pups! All were consumed with 25 minutes of being put into his tub. Damn I'm happy!

    Re: Abbath is kickin arse!

Sounds wonderful! We have one female BP here that from the time she was a baby has been very, extremely, absolutely prey size specific. She'd drive me nuts if I wasn't so lucky to have a rat colony handy so I can pick through the litters to get the exact size Miss Picky wants. I swear if the rat is a few grams either way she won't eat...put in the rat that's the absolute perfect size and she will. Glad you found what's working for Abbath.

Yeah you really got question in the wild how many BP's are this picky and exactly how long do they live?

Ball pythons in the wild live in the conditions they've evolved to thrive in...I doubt that many ball pythons in the wild refuse meals.

Its captive stress that cause ball pythons to be picky.
