    All the time If it's being controlled by a thermostat (or a dimmer, as a temporary resort), there's no need to unplug it to control temperatures.

    You must provide constent temps at all time so your UTH need to stay on 24/7 and MUST be controlled by thermostat to maintain proper temps of 90-94 on the warm side and avoid overheating which could lead to burns.
