Re: Pups at Play
Awww! Cute pics, Jo! You're such a proud momma already--I really hope Tank doesn't have owners (at least owners who still want him), 'cause it looks like he's got such a warm, happy home with you and your fam.
Edit: I'm no breed specialist or anything, but do you think Tank is some sort of Pitbull mix? His smallish ears and some of his facial structure reminds me of them

Look like your new guest is already fully acclimated, like he always been part of the family, that's good to see.

Re: Pups at Play
I suspect he likely could have some pitbull in him Kim. Here in Toledo we have a huge population of pits so pit crosses are as common as fleas on a hound in this city. Actually Mike and I are a bit concerned about advertising that we've found a pup as our neighbours tell us that often people in this area pretend to be the dog's owners and then, especially with pits or pit crosses, will use them for fighting or as bait dogs. It's horribly sad that humans are doing this with dogs - no dog should be encouraged to fight for sport and often to the death (apparently there's often major money money involved with these scumbags).
Mike's at work tonight Christie so Tank's bath will have to wait until tomorrow when I have Mike's help to lift him...he's a tank even a bit underweight as he is. The pics don't show it as he's got a fair bit of a coat on him but when you pat him he's all bones. I don't like a fat dog but he's got no reserves at all! Wolfed his dinner down tonight like he hadn't seen a meal in awhile and drank gallon upon gallon of water.
Mikey's first comment when he came home from school and saw that I had managed to bring the pup home was to pat Tank, then pat Gunnar and tell her "it's okay Gunnar I still wuv you!"
Thanks Deb, I really do feel it was meant to be. I've never had a stray follow me through 8 city blocks, let alone patiently wait for me to drop a child off at school (he hid around the corner then came out once he saw me leaving the school). I think he was determined to find a home and get the heck out of that awful cold.

Great pics, Jo! While they both look like great dogs, I just can't get over how gorgeous Tank is. I'm so glad he found a good home with you

Re: Pups at Play
Thanks hon. I can't wait to see what his coat looks like after a good scrubbing and some decent meals in him. I think he'll clean up rather nicely. Melted mine too Christie...out of the mouth of babes as they say.

Re: Pups at Play
Aww thanks Aleesha, that's sweet of you to say hon. I just really enjoyed watching the two dogs play and wanted to share it with you all.
I think a lot of Gunnar's problems have been that she needed another dog to interact with. She's been amazingly calm around us all day since Tank arrived so he's a blessing for her and our family as Gunnar's been a difficult pup to raise. Now that she has Tank to focus her high energy on, and he's a naturally calm dog other than at play, she seems to be following his lead and not jumping on me constantly seeking attention. Good pack dynamics at work I think.
I actually had a conversation on the phone with Robin today and didn't get continually harrassed by Gunnar. Tank just laid at my feet, she looked at him, looked at me and then lay down! All by herself! I'm completely amazed! She never does this sort of thing and phone calls are generally a dance of trying to talk while shoving Gunnar off me or hushing her high pitched barking for attention.
Ack I'm writing a book and babbling aren't I! Scuse me...puppy love at work here LOL but I'm so pleased to get Tank out of the cold and see Gunnar so happy to have a friend.
