Sugar Gliders Anyone?
I have wanted a sugar glider for many years now. I had a joey about four 1/2 years ago and she died after a month. I thought it was the temperature in the room was the culprit but I'm not so sure after reading up on their husbandry needs.
Suffice it to say I am researching the bejeezes out of everything before jumping in again. This time around I want to get two joeys as they are much more comfortable with a pal and I'm setting up the cage and even looking into making toys for them (pretty easy, even for me!).
So, does anyone own one of these cute little critters? Any thoughts? I've been prowling the sugar glider boards for all sorts of info, but thought I'd share with me friends here who know me better (that and they are all VERY touchy feely over there...I'm not used that!)

I don't own any, but I know someone who does and I've done some research on them. He uses the BML diet with good results (it's the one I'd use if I had suggies too)
they're real cute little buggers.

Cause you come in a tiny package? Wait... umm.... excuse the sick lady she's obviously delirious.
And Wendy we all know you for the weird, knitting addicted self you are. (and love you anyway.... tomorrow I'm off to pave the way for suggie supply birthday presents)

Thanks. It's running rampant through the occupants of my house.
If gliders live for that stuff, those little boogers will be in heaven! She's a bit out of control with her knitting addiction. She'll be even worse now that she can knit for another critter. Wendy step away from the needles....

I used to have a couple sugars...VERY adorable little animals, and the relationship you build with them is so special because they'll just show you all the love in the world when they finally let go and just love you.
However, be warned...they do require A LOT of attention. You will have to spend at least a couple hours almost every night with them otherwise they can get depressed and stressed out. Its also good to be able to wear them in a bonding pouch close to your chest during the day when they are sleeping.
Heres a couple hints: get yourself a tent from Wal-Mart (it will only be like 20 bucks) so they can run around in there with you during play time and you dont have to worry about them getting lost in your couch etc. (they can get into the smallest places. Also they absolutely adore mealworms! Invest in a nice, big cage. Mine was about 5 feet wide, and about 5 feet tall...it coulda been bigger but it worked extremely well. Gave them lots of room to run around at night when I was sleeping.
But good luck with your little gliders, I know you'll love em!
