Why not stick to giving the info you have direct experience, and pointing people to the source for them to decide for the other stuff?

I have every intention of using Equate if I ever have a mite problem again, based on everyones great feedback on it as an alternative to PAM. I have a local Wal-Mart 5-10 minutes from my house and can almost walk there. Gotta love Wally World!

I use proventamite and other products as well. they all work equaly well in killing mites and not harming reptiles.


I will not talk about the other products, as I dont want to argue with all the so called experts here!

The point that you are missing though - you are giving out advice on Equate as if you have first hand experience using it, and you have none. On top of that, you are making un-true claims - such as they are the exact same product, just a different label on the can. Did you call the number that Adam provided you to talk to the maker of Provent-A-Mite to get definitive verification of your claim?

Stating that a product you have never used is safe to use, because experts who you refuse to name have told you so is not responsible, IMHO. At least back up your claims with some sources.

WHy should I? Daniel, Ed and others have already backed up my claims themselves with their statements...why should I mention names when people have already stepped up and gave their experience on it...why does it have to come down to Jamie and even a mod or two trying to push me into giving out names!

Who really cares... I won't give names out of my respect for them. The way things get ugly around here I would hate to have their name innocently tarnished in the forum whether they post here or not.

This is what's freaking pathetic... I offer a simple solution. Others jump in and mention their success with the same solution I offered. And because I offer a solution and don't have the experience to back it up (regardless of how many people jump in and say equate has worked great) I get ridiculed.

I'm seriously done with this thread... you guys can go on with it if you want. Regardless it's only going to get uglier and whatever I post will just get attacked 5x's as hard by the same people until the thread gets locked...

Anyone who wants names just has to read the forums all over the internet and read posts made by breeders and owners and hobbyist at all levels recommending and using Equate as an alternative to PAM.

Yes I am one who can say for certain BE VERY CAREFUL on what you use. As for my story, I am sorry I never updated. 2 of the 3 who showed symptoms recovered fully but as most of you know my poor pastel didnt. I did have a necropsy done and it was from the homemade brew. Please people, learn from me and dont make the same mistake I did, it was heartwrenching to say the least and I will never forget watching my little one die a painful death. The only positive out of this is I have an awesome herp vet now who knows her reptiles!
So help me, whatever any of you do don't knowingly sell an animal who is sick or has mites. (Ok I know the people on here wouldn't be like that but grrrrr there are people who do and I personally would like to flay them!)

All I can say is I have no experience with Equate but since it is NOT labeled for snakes, I wont risk it. I know people who make their own brew and have had no ill effects. I HAVE used homemade brew from someone who has been a breeder for 25 years and that IS what killed my snake. PAM got rid of the mites that came in from that breeder and his homemade brew. PAM is what I use and the ONLY thing I could in good conscience recommend. There is my
