    Is there such a thing?

Okay, I have never seen the snake before but my sister is telling me that at her grandparents house (not on my side; we have differnet dads) they have a "South American Kingsnake" I do not own kingsnakes and I don't know much about them but I DO know that kingsnakes don't live in South America. I was told they don't live any further south than Mexico. She even called them to make sure that she had the name right. They said that's what it was and that Exotics by Nature even said so. I find this very hard to beilve but okay. She says it looks very simalar to a grey banded kingsnake but not excatly. What the hell is this thing? What could it possibly be?

I know news articles aren't always 100% accurate, but I googled it and found this one, which mentions a "South American King Snake":

I have been studying kingsnakes for two years now and from all my reading and surfing i have yet to hear of a South American Kingsnake. The article dug up by AzureN1ght clearly shows a banded cali king, if indeed that is the snake in question. I thought the shop owner would have been able to tell the press that it was a cali king, seeing as the shop he owns specializes in reptiles

So it's safe to say that a South American Kingsnake doesn't exist then?
