baby chamelions
so is anyone into chamelions? I was at the local pet store a few days ago and saw baby chamelions! they were about the size of the first 2 knuckles on your pinky finger. cute little buggars.
my shock though was to find out he was asking about $100 to $150 per lizard! sound steep or am I just out of the lizard loop, so to speak?

Re: baby chamelions
i was just looking at some yesterday at the reptile shop, they are awesome i think i might get a pair for my girlfriend. If they are are Veil (i thinks thats how you spell it probably not though) chamelions they should only be about 50-60 bucks. Thats how much they were charging at the place i was at. But yeah real cute. They get to be about 9" or so.

Re: baby chamelions
Price varies greatly depending on species.. the price juddb quoted for veiled chameleons is about right.. but something like a jackson's chameleon can command a price of over $100..
Chameleons are not easy lizards to care for.. they are delicate and finnicky. Do some research before thinking of getting one. Veiled and panther chameleons are considered good beginner species.

Re: baby chamelions
I have a panther chameleon, and i bought him for ~$350 from Screameleons.com. They're absolutely beautiful, but as a general rule they can be pretty unsociable. They're definately not an animal that you would want to buy if you want to be able to handle them a lot.

Re: baby chamelions
I would recommend getting a veiled over a panther as a first chameleon. I think I paid $85 for mine as a juvie. I have always seen high 'pet store' prices when compared to breeders or online sellers. But even their prices vary alot depending on local and appearance.....They are all beautiful though

Re: baby chamelions
I had one and it got a bad RI and died about 2 months ago. It really was hard to watch but it happens. It was due to the cold and shipping. If your going to get one, I'd suggest a juvie at least because babys are very fragile and are very hard to treat when sick. My chameleon is acually in this months HOTM entries right now if you want to look.
