    My Weekend Rescue...

Over the weekend I rescued this beautiful 2500+ gram male...

I gladly paid for him and his tank and if you saw the conditions he was in you would understand the reason I say "rescued". When I responded to the guys Ad he told me it was a female so I thought "hey great price for a adult female, I'll check it out". When I arrived to see the animal I saw the owner had him in a freakin storage unit! with only 1 heatrock for a heat source! the heatrock was a very very small zoomed that was only slightly warm to the touch... He had a half log for a hide and 2 single pieces of paper towel for substrate. I'm suprised this animal is even alive! The last few days before I picked him up it had been in the high 30's and low 40's! After seeing that he had been in these conditions I didn't care about it's sex. I just knew I had to take care of it.

Since he's been in my posession I have throroughly cleaned his Tank inside and out, Gave him a fresh bed of aspen throughout the tank, scrubbed his water bowl clean and gave him a couple more appropriate hideboxes. I threw out the heatrock and gave him a nice UTH and his Temps and Humidity are now dead on. I also popped him to see hemipenes and sperm plugs.

I've got him in another room away from my animals for now as he is in quarantine. I have a person interested in him but I want to keep an eye on him to make sure he is Ok. No signs of a RI so far but like I said I'm keepin an eye on him.

Here he is on the trunk of my Taurus to show somewhat of a size comparison.

    Thanks for looking!

    LOL Yeah that might work.

I just want to keep him for a little while and ensure that he's healthy before I sell him to anybody. My friend wants him but I just want to make sure I don't sell him a problem...

Going to feed him in a week and see how he eats. From the look of him though he seems to be a good eater. BUt of course I gotta make sure.

Wow congrats and kudos to your for rescuing him. Chimera was rescued by Jen before I took him. Rescue snakes remind me of pound dogs because they always seem to have a unique personality. He's a big gorgeous boy and I hope things go well!

Thanks! yeah, I just had to take him home. I felt so bad for the poor thing. He seems alot happier and less stressed in his new enviorment. He is a big boy! I was suprised it was a male, but he's beautiful none the less! I'm hoping things go well too!
