    watering info and setup

Reptile Basics now carries rodent watering pieces! I ordered all mine this morning and can't wait to set it up. They have 2 nicely written pages with pics to show what they are talking about. In case anyone is interested, here are the links.

Cool, I need to order more valves.

Quick question, what does everyone do for the grow out tubs? We have a problem where some of the small pups that may be weaned, but cannot reach the water valve. I end up pushing it through so they can reach, and then of course someone will chew the line. So ... we have been having to add little water dishes, which defeates the whole purpose.

Since I generally feed only very small rats, I just pull from the birthing tubs which are low enough for the weaners to reach the food and sipper ... but for anything that is old enough to wean but need an extra week, I use ...

The sippers and food are in the side of the tubs and low enough for even tiny weaners to reach.

Listen to this...I just had 4 valves pulled into the cages and chewed off...that means the entire water bucket empties into those cages.....What a mess.
