Crickets are cheap individually....but when you have an single animal that can put away 25+ crickets a day....the quanity that you have to buy to keep up is what costs money.
It is also good to provide a varied diet for beardeds.....When I had my 2 beardies, I would spend $15 a week on crickets or mealies....plus another $5 on greens....and maybe another $5-15 for treat insects for the month.
.....add your other costs....... suppliments(calcium and vitamin) ($15/every few months), a decent UVB lamp($30/6 months)....it really starts to add up...ask anyone who has kept beardeds for some time.
.....do not think that they are 'cheap' animals to maintain.
Also, I don't understand Vomitore's size comment concerning beardies either. especially if you are refering to enclosure size.......A bearded dragon needs a MINIMUM of a 40 gallon breeder size aquarium(36" x 18" footprint or equal sized enclosure)....the bigger the better. An enclosure for an adult RTB would only be 1 ft longer than something for a bearded dragon. Where you just refering to the size of the animal??

Oh that! LOL Well....I've been in the process of moving cross-country for the last month, and am still working at it. I haven't had a "normal" day or a full day off in all this time. This weekend will be spent moving an entire room of very big, heavy furniture, while trying to not ruin a brand new tile floor in the process. I'm just ready to take a break and get my normal life back.

Poor girl, Judy!
I thought I wanted a beardie, a few years ago. I bought him, and started realizing that they are a hugely different pet than BPs or BCI. Daily feedings and cleanups were really not fitting into my life; I already have a rat farm pretty-much, as well as two horses to cleanup after daily (Poop machines!) I ended up selling him to Mark's cousin, who enjoys him very much.. just make sure if you are going to get one, you inform yourself and know what to expect!

They aren't any hassle for me. I just got the 3 snakes and they are easy daily clean up. Take about and hour of my day to do my daily clean up. I'm actually holding off since I have a possible jury summons tomorrow. So there's a chance I might have to waiste time and money sitting in a court house, dreaming of way to poke my eyes out, without ever using my hands.

I have two little bearded dragons. They are very awsome little guys! They are very easy to take care of well out of the reptiles I have they are anyways. They are very docile and are easy to tame.

As adults beardies move to an almost completely vegetarian diet.
