Happy Thanksgiving!
Okay, what's this? A Happy Thanksgiving thread in the Field Herping and Wildlife forum?
Well, I'm hoping to bring back some nice herping shots during my Thanksgiving vacation to Anza Borrego State Park. Even though most Californians have never heard of Anza Borrego, it's the largest state park in California. Lots of fun stuff to explore including slot canyons, 4WD trails, desert mountain hikes, and most importantly... HERPS! If you get a chance to pick up the last Reptiles magazine, there's an article and pics of someone who recently visited Anza Borrego in the spring and was lucky enough to find a Rosy Boa amongst other herps.
Hopefully when I returen I'll have plenty of pics to post here. Until then, I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving holiday!

Well, there weren't many winter flowers... They must have had a little bit of moisture, though, as a couple plants were blooming including a few Ocotillos.
The trip was pretty fun even though we didn't see ANY snakes. I was a little suprised because it was so warm (mid to high 80s all week), but I guess it was just the wrong time of year. Even so, we had a great time driving through the back country and exploring many slot canyons. Here's a link to a few pictures of the trip.

Nice shots! It looks like you had a wonderful time. I love that sunset pic, and the cool rock formations.

Re: Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks. The week went by pretty quick, but I was still a little disappointed that we couldn't find any herps. Some of the ones that we might have seen were: SouthernPacific Rattlesnake, Green Mojave Rattlesnake, Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, Whipsnakes, Rosy Boas, Cali Kings, Desert Iguanas, Desert Tortoises, and Chuckwallas. At least it gives me another reason to go back.
