    feeding during a shed?

Roger is going threw his first shed. I'm curious if i should attempt to feed him. i dont want to stress him out anymore then i have to. Im not handling him either im just going in the tank for daily maintance. is it better wait until he is complete with his shed or try to feed him anyway? i did read the sticky on shedding but any extra advise on shedding would be appreciated.

    thanks

You can try feeding him it won't hurt to do so. If he eats GREAT.. if not don't worry about it since a lot of snakes won't eat while they are blue. If he doesn't eat he should be hungry after he shed so give him the food item again then.

As for tips, I just make sure I up the humidity in my guys tank/tub's. Also I let then soak in about an inch of water two times when they are blue for about 15 minutes each time. So far doing so my guys have all had perfect sheds.

You just need to figure out what works for you and your snake. I don't offer food during shed because 75% of the time, they'll refuse anyway. Waiting another week to offer food is no big deal, so that's what I do.

Whereas Christie doesn't offer when in shed, I do - I have nine snakes in full blue right now - only one refused.

    Re: feeding during a shed?

I have often heard people tell others not to feed when your snake is in blue, but, mine is, and i fed him yesterday, bit better than he ever has! lol. No harm in trying, but if he refuses, just wait untill after the shed.

    Re: feeding during a shed?

Both my BP and corn snake eat while in shed. No refusals yet
I did notice that once when my corn was in full blue, he had a hard time finding the prey (more than normal). He knew it was there just took him longer to find the head. lol
