    Re: Feeding Live....

live feeding, whacking, whatever is all fine, as long as in the end the snake is safe and eating, and the roden doesn't suffer too much. i know constricting isn't pleasurable, but if i start feeling sorry for rodents next thing i'll be feeling sorry of flies and ants that get squashed daily

    Red face Re: Feeding Live....

I don't mind feeding live mice to my snakes but I will admit that full grown rats does bother me a little....I used to keep rats as pets years ago before I got into herps and I feel sort of bad sometimes about using them as feeders.
I get the rat pinks and fuzzies now.

My original crew of Ball Pythons ( Trinity, Apok , Cypher and Switch ) took large full grown rats and the poor rats would scream bloody murder when the BPs hit them. Today I have my new Ball Pythons ( Link and Morpheus ) and they are still on adult mice so the rat action is a ways off for now. I also feed live so that sort of makes it a bit controversial as I have seen how quickly people get into an argument over that.....

    Re: Feeding Live....

I'm thinking that they want everyone to kill them using a CO2 chamber, like the feeders. I've never been freezed to death but my fingers start to hurt if I hold a piece of ice for too long, so I'm guessing it's a very painful way to die. And also, stories of people freezing to death usually aren't too nice souding. Frostbite, hypothermia...etc.

CO2 chamber just sounds more peaceful and kind, in a way.

I dunno though, I've never had to euthanize a snake.
