Re: Introducing Moby
The guy I got Moby from said that he was 2 years old. I'm not sure if he is right, but I didn't second guess him. I thought he might be right due to the remaining orangish coloration on the sides of Moby's head.

Re: Introducing Moby
Moby is a cutie. I miss hanging out with the albino burms we had at the reptile zoo I worked at.
My male burm is a year old and around 6'.. they may have power fed that one, or maybe they just really pick up the growth rate in the second year.

Re: Introducing Moby
Not uncommon at all for a female to be that big that fast. If he is really a male he is one fast growing boy. Not so much in length but in girth. That is a big snake for a 2 year old male, for a female it would be average for one that is well fed,

Burms do grow that fast Male's grow slower than females, but it depend's on background genetic's as well. The first year is when they blow up, and in the second year they start to slow down. I've had female's hit 9' in their first year as well as male's get to around 8'. None of them were powerfed. I've seen that smaller, more frequent meals allow's a snake to grow faster, but not at an unhealthy rate; as well as keep a healthier look than if they were fed one meal of the same weight as the more frequent meals each week. They also keep a healthier weight for some reason, not obese, or fatty but actually more "muscular".

That is actually a healthy weight and size for a 2 year old male. All giant's are individual's. Some grow faster, while other's grow much more slowly no matter what their feeding schedule is.
Very nice Burm by the way! He is a beauty!
