"may" become an r-maid convert!
I have been keeping my little '06, Luna, in an r-maid. I need to say this now; it is SO much easier than the tanks my others are in! It got a little messy after a recent urate-spree by her, and it was SO easy to clean; not remaining lingering stuff could get stuck anywhere like it possibly can in the tanks. (silicone corners, etc.) I just lifted the r-mald up, scrubbed it in the kitchen sink, and voila!
I will probably end up building a rack for my brood instead of modular wall caging like I thought; we'll see! I love the ease of cleaning. I want to innovate a system where humidity can be controlled during normal time, but raised during shed; I thouhgt of possibly putting shipping tape over some of the holes in the side (of course it'd be on the outside of the r-maid..)

tubs/racks are definately easier to clean! all of mine feed very well in racks also.
during shed time, i just spray the tub with water.

Now, I can do back-heating with a rack, right? (meaning, instead of being under the cage, the UTH would be on the back/side.)

In my professional opinion, belly heat is better .... everyone knows that heat rises, which makes belly heat the most efficient way to heat a rack.
The racks that I've used in the past with back heat always had to work harder to achieve the same temps as racks with belly heat.

This question has to do with this one, so I hope this isn't hijacking the thread.
Is it better to snake the flexwatt through the rack? or have a foot of flexwatt in each level?

imo, yes being routered through will heat better. more flexwatt=more heat. not saying that is the only way.

I will be doing belly heat then. It seems more "cozy" to me, as well as more practical. I actually have a few extra r-maids lying around; I am thinking of moving my pastel into the one today. Plus, I am in need of another tank for my rat-breeding; could use his now-tank for that!
