    shows?

I did alot of research before buying my ball python Anton. One of the many web sites said some thing about showing snakes. I was wanting to know if there was such a thing. I would like to show my pet, and if you know of any in or near mid North Carolina. Thank you.

I'm not sure what you mean by "showing snakes." So far as I am aware, there is nothing like a "dog show" where you compete with other dogs for prizes. What you may be thinking of are "reptile shows" where a whole bunch of vendors get together in one place to sell animals and other herp-related goods.

    Re: shows?

The site talked about pet owners getting together more as a social event than a compition.

It is a social event, but the breeders sell their animals at very good prices.

You can find a sick, nonfeeding, mite infested Boa constrictor at Petco for $169.

But at a show, you can find a fat, healthy Boa for around $60.

    Re: shows?

Thats what i was asking about. thank you. im looking to speak with breeders about my yong loved one. not many people know about snakes in th south (other than wanting to kill the poor things) including vets. i got mine from a family owned pet shop and he gets his snakes from a small breeder/handler. fyi be where of prekilled mice from petsmart. i had a cream corn snake before my ball python and they sold me 2 containers of rotten pinkies which killed my corn.

Pet smart sells feeders? They told me they don't because it's "cruel to feed to snakes"...
