    my Brazilian Rainbow Boa

a friend of mine picked this little guy(or girl) up for me a few days ago.
he knows someone that had a pair that bred and the guy sold all of them but two.. this one and another that my friend is selling for him.

he was going to kill this one because it supposedly had a flaw, but it just shed last night and I couldn't see anything wrong with it. luckily my friend told him he knew someone that would take it so I got myself a free BRB and saved its life.

Geez, why would he kill it if it had a flaw? If the snake was in pain and couldn't get help from a vet I could understand. But what was the "flaw" of this lil guy?

my friend said the guy told him the snake had a kink in the tail, but if it does it must be very minor and it had a scale or two on the side that looked like they were flaking off or something.. they were very hard to find though and I haven't even tried finding them since it shed.. hopefully they went away.

Sounds like Lucky would be an appropriate name if you haven't already chosen one. I used to have a brb myself. They are very beautiful snakes and yours is no exception. I can't believe they were going to kill that little guy/gal. I'm so glad you were able to get it.

    Re: my Brazilian Rainbow Boa

If a snake is born with a bad enough kink, then euthanizing is an important option to consider, especially you sell snakes as breeders. If the kink isn't bad enough to damage quality of life for the snake (i.e., impede defecation/uration) but still make it questionable for breeding, many breeders may still put the animal down because finding a home for a permanent non-breeder may be difficult to guarantee.

He's a pretty snake - I'm glad you were able to rescue him. =)

I see you finally signed up, dude. (I know I'm a week late).

Like I said before, nice snake. I was planning on buy one of those soon but with a $150+ price tag I'll hold off.

    Re: my Brazilian Rainbow Boa

    alright..

turns out my snake didn't have anything wrong with it.

the guy my buddy picked the snakes up from told him that the snake about to shed had the kink, and I picked the thing up at around 3am, so he just opened the container they were in and grabbed mine and put him in the cage..

turns out the other snake was the one that had a slight kink to it, but it was minor and my friend had no problem selling for the guy even with the kink.
